The Internet : Another victim, Amanda Todd

Okay people, today I am gonna talk about something different. This topic is about something that I have never talked about.

Today I am gonna talk about Amanda Todd. Now most of you might have heard about her before but I am sure that there will be somebody out there who have never heard this name before. This post is for those people and for those who wanna know more.

Amanda Todd was a beautiful young woman who fell victim to cyber bullying.

Where is she now?
Well, I'm so sorry to tell you that she is no more.

What happened to her?
She committed suicide. She was found dead in her room on October 10th, 2012.

Today at AlphaDudeHere, I wanna share her story with you.

And it goes like :

All her problems in life started when she was about to enter into the next phase after childhood i.e adolescent or "teenage" phase.

Amanda Todd was beautiful both mentally and physically. She was also a great singer. Just like any other teen, her mind craved for attention. She too wanted to be the center of attention. So she took all her skills to the social network, THE INTERNET. Now this changed her life, literally.

 She used to perform live on a web site named 'blogtv' which is now known as 'younow' which she was pretty much addicted to. Once she started to get enough followers, she too got carried away. Her physical beauty was always getting appreciated by male viewers. People used to say that she was "beautiful", "stunning", and "so perfect".

Now if you are a male above 13, I'm pretty much sure that you might be knowing this. When a male apprecates the beauty of a female online, it's more likely that only 30% of them means it. The other 70%,  compliments her and uses these compliments as a bait to lure her in.

Amanda's beauty was complimented to such extent that she got way too excited to notice that these males were trying to exploit her. As she failed notice their real intentions, she was walking right into their traps. They somehow talked her into flashing her breasts online.

 Initially, she didn't think it was a big thing. You can't put the blame on Amanda, because her initial intention was to get her talent in singing reach the world, which was a pure intention. We also have to consider her age, which was around 11, which means she was just beginning to explore Internet. She already did find the positive part but now it was time for the negative side.

After this flashing part was over, that's when "Tyler Boo" 's part was ON. Tyler Boo was a fake profile on Facebook. He was a hungry predator looking for an easy prey. And who is more vulnerable other than girls like Amanda, who unknowingly left a trace behind for their predators, which in this case is Tyler Boo.

This predator pounced on Amanda Todd through Facebook and sent her a message threatening her that he will spread the photo far and wide unless she gave him more. He prepared and set his traps in such a way that she could never escape. He collected all her personal details like her address, school, relatives, friends, family names and threatened that they'd be the first to see her topless pictures if she didn't give him what he wants. She was scared and said, "one time, okay?" and she did it. When she was asked for more, she refused. All these happened during Christmas break. As Amanda didn't give her blackmailer what he wanted, he uploaded her topless picture to a porn site. She and her family at Port Coquitlam was woken up at 04:00AM by someone at their door. When they opened the door they found out that it was the police and that's when the police informed them that her topless photo was uploaded to the Internet and was now public. But it was just getting started. He then sent a link of that picture to all of Amanda's Facebook friends which included her friends, neighbors, teachers, acquaintances, and even her Mom. She was so embarrassed. After this, she was diagnosed with anxiety disorder, panic disorder and depression.

But just as I said earlier things were just getting started. She was no longer Amanda Todd in her school. Instead she was just a "girl in THAT picture" . She started to get called on nicknames such as "cam-whore", "pornstar", and some of them asked her questions like "you do this on a regular basis" and stuff. Basically she was "slut-shamed" at school. She could no longer continue in that school. So she moved to another school.

Months passed by. It was a calm and quiet environment. Everything was finally beginning to fall into place but later did she realize that, this was the silence before another Shit storm.

It was May 2011, months after his first threat, he reappeared to Amanda's life, repeating the same thing, that he wanted more Webcam shows. Amanda's mother reported this to the police but no noticeable actions where seen from them. It's been 5 months since Amanda's mother first reported the case to the police. Now the second threat and still no action from the cops.

 Amanda couldn't take it alone anymore so she moved into doing drugs and alcohol. Don't know if this is because she was doing drugs now, but her anxiety got worse and she couldn't even get out of her home.

October 2011, it's been ten months after Amanda's mom first reported her case to the police and she received yet another blackmail from her blackmailer known as Tyler Boo. This was his third blackmail to Amanda. This is their Facebook conversation.

TYLER BOO: sup camwhore, been a while :P

i didnt send the video the last time because i liked how you whined,but as you know i have your new school, new schoolmates new flash your parents havent seen etc etc blahblah you know the drill.

so 3 shows of 15 minutes and then i wont send :3

AMANDA: Oh yeah what are some names;)

TYLER BOO: lol, u already forgot who i am? the guy who last year made you change school. got your door kicked in with cops in the morning :P

and also on youtube like 6 months ago whatever, scared you a bit :P

you promised the authorities not to do be sexual on cam again because you are underage and it is considered producing of child porn….well, you have. so i can send them that and make them come to you again, send your new school and friends and family again.

you will go through the exact same thing all over.

or you can give me 3 shows and i will disappear forever. you know i wont stop until you give me those 3 shows. if u go to a new school, new bf, new friends, new whatever, i will be there again :P

Amanda Todd had tried ignoring her stalker, but that did not stop the blackmailing. The teen's response to Tyler Boo in the Facebook chat logs shows she defiantly stood up to her online stalker.

AMANDA: do u wanna meet me ? come meet me right now.

TYLER BOO: are u drunk? xD

AMANDA: NOPE. im sober, or are u to scared f--king pedo

TYLER: year scared of u and flying 3 hours.

AMANDA: ur scared of airplanes eh ?

TYLER BOO: so about them 3 shows :3

AMANDA: not gonna happen prick. so far how many people have inboxed u about this eh ?of my friends

TYLER BOO: 4 and i hope more do so i can send them the link to the video directly, faster instead of going to their pages xD

AMANDA: LOL NAMES OF THE PEOPLE PLEASE

TYLER BOO: it should be a surprise for u. can you tell more them to inbox me. a lot of them i cant message without adding as friend so would no be able to send them :P

Even though she stood strong against her blackmailer, inside her mind, she was still broke.

Amanda Todd also mentions that Tyler Bond made another Facebook account as Austin Collins. He connected with all her Facebook friends and then he changed his display picture of his Facebook profile to Amanda's infamous topless picture. He then sent it to 280 of Amanda's Facebook friends. It is said so in his message for Amanda. He was literally torturing Amanda online.   

It was seen that on November 2011, Amanda had updated her status on Facebook. 

"I'm so sorry, everyone who got the links from austin collins. When I was 11 years old I got a message saying 'I have all your information, I will come find you if you don't flash and do this for me' so I was scared, I said, 'one time okay' so I did it. And he said if I didn't do it again he would send to all port coquitlam. I wasn't going to do it again, so then he sent it to everyone in port coquitlam. Teachers, friends family. On christmas. So I moved, I thought new start for my messup would be good, then he followed me.. He stalked and found out my new school and friends and now you guys all got the link. Judge me, or be there for me. Wichever you guys want.. But right now I feel like shit, I feel so sad and sick.. That he's gonna do this for the rest of my life and there's nothing I can do. He made you all think he's a young boy in his teens that is going to westview when he's over 30+, he's tyler boo.. He's a sick pedofile. The best thing I can say now is, don't send it, block him, don't click it.. I really don't know what to do anymore."

Amanda used to cry every night, she lost everything, all her friends, her respect, in fact, she lost herself. The worst part of her life was again on loop. Because of this Facebook profile everyone at her new school started to recognize her. Everybody hated her and others who were seen with her was also hated. Therefore she was left alone. 

She was so desperate. So, she started to cut herself, hurt herself. Amanda's blackmailer was putting her in pain, both mental and physical. But she was trying to be strong. She decided to move schools again and she did. 

Even though she was alone, things were starting to get better. That's when she met an old friend whom she describes as an "old guy friend". They texted each other and got pretty close. Amanda thought he liked her. But this "old guy friend" had a girlfriend. Amanda was alone for a long time and all she was looking for was a company. And when this guy came pretty close, she thought that this guy was the one. 

One day, this guy asked Amanda to come over to his house (as his girlfriend was on vacation). Amanda went over to his house and this she herself describes as a "huge mistake". She says that this guy "hooked up" with her. Again she kept on thinking that he liked her. But was this the truth? Let's find out. 

After one week, Amanda says that she got a text to her cell phone "get out of school". The moment she stepped out of school, she noticed that the "old guy friend" 's girlfriend and 15 others which of course included her "old guy friend" was waiting for her. They approached her and this guy's girlfriend and 2 others shouted at her face saying "look around, nobody likes you". Apparently all students who were standing there was listening to them. In fact, some of them were filming this on their cell phones. That guy's girlfriend threw Amanda down and punched her several times in front of him. After all this, she was left alone on the ground. 

Her mind was broke already and this incident broke it even more. She never did blame anybody. She kept on saying it was her idea, her fault. She says that she didn't want that "old guy friend" to get hurt. So she put the blame on herself. 

Just like Tyler Boo, this guy too didn't want her. All he wanted was pleasure from her physical body. Still, she never wanted to hurt him. 

She got home, she was feeling hopeless. She didn't wanna live anymore. She lost her hope on life. She gave up on herself. She drank bleach to kill herself. But, life hadn't given up on her. Her parents found out, she was rushed to the hospital and her life was saved even though the pain killed her from the inside. 

When she got home and checked her Facebook, instead of "get well soon" messages, she found something else. Her inbox was filled with messages like "she deserved it", "I hope shez dead". 

She decided to give herself one last shot, again she moved to another city, another school. Because she wanted to move on, she didn't press any charges against them. 

6 months had gone by but still she used to get bugged by the people in Facebook. They used to sent her messages like "she should try a different bleach and I hope she die this time" and "I hope she sees this and kills herself". All these hurt her a lot and these resulted in causing her anxiety disorders. But this time it was at its peak. She overdosed herself in an attempt to suicide but, she failed even though she became hospitalized. Life hadn't given up on her. 

And on her third attempt on October 10, 2012, when she was at the age of 15, Amanda Michelle Todd hanged herself in her home at Port Coquitlam. Unfortunately this time she became successful. 

 Even though it was a suicide, I'd say that she was being  brutally murdered. Murdered by people like Tyler Boo, her schoolmates from different schools, people who insulted her, who called her a "cam-whore", "pornstar", and many more. All those people who played their part to lead her to an unfortunate death, you are all murderers. You think you murdered only one person? Boy your wrong coz you killed a loving daughter, a loyal friend, and a budding star. 

She is only one among the thousands of Amanda's suffering due to people like Tyler Boo. 

Let's stop it guys. Stand with me and help me put an end to it. Way too many lives have been lost in sake of cyber bullying. There are many girls, girls like Amanda Todd out there, in need of help. Help them. Stand for them, with them, in any way you possibly can, just like I did. Spread this far and wide.  Let them know we are here for them. 

It's pretty easy to show your condolences after one has passed away but when you can kill the cause of their possible death, why react after, react NOW. 

Help them now or, are you waiting for them to kill themselves. 

The choice is always yours and if you choose wrong,  make sure you don't regret coz this can happen to your near and dear ones, anywhere, anytime.
